I am the new owner of a mac pro,OSX10.6.8,dual core xeon,266mhz with 6G ram. I do music production,and I am using an Echo Audiofire 4 as my interface. Here is my problem: After functioning correctly for twenty minutes or so, the audio starts progressively to break up, sometimes silencing itself completely.
Often I can resume after choosing a new buffer size(usually on the fifth or sixth attempt), 're-choosing' the Echo driver,(although I didn't 'un-choose it),or powering off the Echo unit,then re-adding the busses in Cubase. Sometimes I have to close the file altogether.
I've had Echo products in my Windows machines with various Cubase incarnations for many happy years, and suspect that I'm overlooking something on the Mac, because I've changed platforms. Dear all, I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 5675 Ryzen 1700x with Windows 10 pro 64 bits.I own an ECHO audiofire 12 soundboard connected on a Firewire PCI-E extension board. My DAW software is Reaper. Each time I open Reaper, windows freezes and crashes but power is still on! I have to reboot the computer for restarting windows. Last BIOS version installed.

Same issues when I use audio file with another audio player. For information, I made some tests on another computer (with last INTEL XEON generation) the same gear (Echo audiofire/PCI-E firewire board/W10) and all is stable and fine. It is very frustrating, I can not use my INSPIRON 5675 as audio workstation (I purchased it for that.).Could you please help me?

Thanks Denis. Yeah, I don't know what all Dell pre-loaded on these AMD-based Inspirons, but I suggest you: 1. Be sure machine passes ePSA. If so, proceed to Step #2.

Nuke-and-Pave (clean-install) Windows-10 64-bit ( perfect and untouched from Microsoft.com ) If it was my machine (or if I or my guys were tasked with fixing it), I would Nuke-and-Pave it right about now. That will remove all the Dell software (and any OEM customization to Windows-10) all at once. Drivers (especially AMD ChipSet) should be latest.
Still say a full wipe and clean-install is your best bet. Or best foundation for a starting point toward a 100% stable machine. That will get you running perfect/lean Windows-10 real quick-like. Just use the drivers that Microsoft tosses-you. I bet they will even give you a working AMD video driver. No Dell drivers, no Intel-RST. Keep it super-lean.
