As the printer was less than 12 months old I returned it and got a replacement under warranty. When the supplied (small amount) of toner ran out I replaced it with genuine Xerox toner and haven't had an issue since. Somewhere in the instructions it states that the printer runs on a specially prepared Xerox toner and should only be used with that Xerox toner. (No I don't work for Xerox) but maybe that is correct. Twice the price I know but it seems to keep working OK. Have had this printer for a few years and have had no problems.
We didn't print too often as the reason why we tried this style of printer. However it started printing a lighter shade of black and automatically we presumed it needed a new cartridge. One we replaced cartridge it has never worked since, it prints blank sheets and does not say any problems. Now I am trying to troubleshoot it but windows 8.1 will does not like xerox disc that came with printer.

Then mid print it made some strange sounds and stopped printing. I turned it off and on, re-set my PC. The printer showed green light but is not soing its usual warm up sounds that it always did after it was turned on. So i replaced the toner with a genuine cartridge.
And still nothing. When i send a print job nothing happens and the PC print job folder shows 0 documents. I am going to try install the driver again as a last resort.
